- Dr. Harry can you tell us about you and your background and upbringing?
I was born and raised in La Crescenta, Ca. I attended Mountain Ave Elementary, Rosemont Junior High School and Crescenta Valley High School. I was very involved with music growing up. I have played the piano since the age of 5 and violin since the age of 9. I was a member of Glendale Youth Orchestra and Crescenta Valley High School’s symphonic orchestra.
- What made you choose the path of dentistry? Was it always your first passion of work to pursue?
I always was interested in science and pursuing a future career in the medical field. I volunteered at Verdugo Hills Hospital for four years; however, I did not like the overall hospital environment. I worked at a dental office for half a year and I loved the interaction between the dentist and his patients. The environment was very fun and friendly. I realized that I can help people improve their oral health while forming life long relationships with patients and their families.
- What area of dentistry do you specialize in?
Our office is a general dental practice. We specialize in dental exams, cleanings, fillings, crowns, veneers, root canals, extractions, invisalign, and implant restorations.
- Can you tell us when you opened your business and what type of insurances you take?
In 2019 I was able to start my own practice, Atrium Dental, in Glendale, Ca. We accept all major PPO insurances and we accept patients who do not have insurance as well. We also offer care credit financing.
- What are your work ethics and what advice would you give other men who want to pursue their career passions too?
The biggest advice I can give anyone is to make sure they truly love the career they want to pursue. Make sure to invest time in shadowing to make sure you like a career before you make any decisions.
- How important is dental hygiene for overall health?
Dental hygiene is one of the most important aspects in our daily overall health. There are many studies linking periodontal disease (gum infection) to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and premature birth weight of children.
- What recommendations do you have for keeping your teeth clean and white? Any dental products you recommend over the counter?
I definitely recommend seeing a general dentist a minimum of every 6 months for your routine dental exam and cleaning. I strongly recommend brushing your teeth twice a day with toothpaste that contains fluoride, along with flossing once a day.
- Is it hard to keep a work and life balance?
Having a good work and life balance is a challenge especially when after I acquired my own my dental practice. I am very committed to working while at work but I try my best to spend as much time with my family when I am home.
- How do you make sure you are not burned out from work? And if you are, what do you normally do as self-care?
I work a lot and luckily I have not felt burnt out yet. When you have a true passion for your career it does not feel like work rather a hobby. I do enjoy traveling and spending quality time with good friends and of course my family.
